President and chief executive officer of Smithfield Foods, Inc. Mr. Pope joined Smithfield Foods in 1980 as controller, became vice president, finance in 1999, chief financial officer in 2000, and was named president and chief operating officer in 2001. Mr. Pope succeeded Joseph W. Luter, III as chief executive officer of Smithfield Foods in 2006. Prior to joining Smithfield Foods, Mr. Pope spent four years with Coopers & Lybrand.

George H. Richter
President and Chief Operating Officer, Pork Group

Mr. Richter was promoted to president and chief operating officer of the Smithfield Foods pork group in 2008. In this role the presidents of Smithfield Foods' five pork processing companies report to him. Previously, Mr. Richter served as president and chief executive officer of Farmland Foods after it was acquired by Smithfield Foods in October 2003. Prior to that he was employed for 34 years by Farmland Industries where he held a number of executive positions, his last as president of the pork division.

Mr. Luter, named executive vice president at Smithfield Foods, Inc. in 2008, concentrates on sales and marketing for the company. He served as president and chief operating officer of Smithfield Packing from 2004 to 2008. Mr. Luter has held numerous positions at Smithfield Packing and Smithfield Foods during his tenure, including four years as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Smithfield Foods, Inc. from 2000 to 2004.

Robert W. Manly, IV

Mr. Manly rejoined Smithfield Foods as executive vice president in 2006 after 10 years as president of Premium Standard Farms. He also became the chief financial officer in 2008. Prior to that he served as executive vice president of Smithfield Foods, Inc. from 1986 through 1996, also serving as president and chief operating officer of Smithfield Packing from 1994 to 1995. In November 2007 Mr. Manly was assigned the responsibility of managing international operations at Smithfield Foods, Inc.

Mr. Poulson joined Smithfield Foods in 1998 to oversee the company's merger and acquisition activity. Prior to that he was senior managing director of the Appian Group, a private merchant and investment banking partnership based in Washington, D.C., and Paris.

Mr. Dubois joined Smithfield Foods in 2005 as the corporate treasurer. Prior to that he served as assistant treasurer at Bunge Limited and had held a number of other finance positions at Pepsi Bottling, Joseph E. Seagram and Sons, and Louis Dreyfus Corporation.

In 1994 Mr. Ellis joined The Smithfield Packing Company as technical services director. He moved to Smithfield Foods in 1996, accepting his current position in 2000.

Craig R. Harlow

Mr. Harlow joined Smithfield Foods in 2008. Prior to that he served as director of internal audit with Alcatel-Lucent, director of finance and internal audit with L'Oreal USA and held key internal audit roles with Becton Dickinson and Nabisco, Inc. From 1992 to 1999 Mr. Harlow served in the audit and assurance practice of Arthur Andersen LLP serving a variety of clients in the manufacturing, consumer products and gaming industries.

Jeffrey M. Luckman

In 1988 Mr. Luckman joined John Morrell & Co. as vice president, livestock procurement. He assumed this role for all of Smithfield Foods in 1993. Mr. Luckman has served on the Virginia Pork Industry Board since 1996.

Henry L. Morris

After nine years with ConAgra Foods, where he was senior vice president of manufacturing for the Processed Meats Group, Mr. Morris rejoined Smithfield Foods. He has served as vice president operations for Smithfield Packing and Gwaltney and vice president engineering for Smithfield during his tenure at Smithfield Foods.

After spending twelve years at public accounting and consulting firms, Mr. Sullivan joined Smithfield Foods in 2003. He previously served in a chief auditor capacity for three Fortune 500 companies.

Mr. Thamodaran joined John Morrell & Co. in 1990 as director of price-risk management and moved to his present position in 1995. Prior to that he spent five years at Farmland Industries.

Mr. Treacy joined Smithfield Foods in 2002. Prior to that he served as director of Virginia's department of environmental quality. From 1990 to 1995, Treacy served as assistant attorney general in the natural resources section of the Virginia attorney general's office.

In 1998 Mr. Turner joined Smithfield Foods as corporate tax director. Prior to that he spent a number of years at KPMG and Coopers & Lybrand handling tax matters for a variety of clients.

Mr. Zadeh joined Smithfield Foods in 2001. Prior to that he served as chief technology officer for Kraft Foods and as senior information technology leader in foods and consumer package goods for companies such as Miller Brewing Company and PepsiCo, both in the U.S. and abroad.
